Today was a good day. I got to participate in the blessing of my brother’s son, my step-dad is visiting, and I successfully followed my workout and diet plan.

I had a bowl of soup for breakfast, an orange for a mid morning snack, and more soup for lunch and dinner – and nothing else but water and psyllium.

Blood pressure about 30 minutes after walk, before bed, was 161/101 – not as good as yesterday.

On the exercise front, I did the 3 mile walk, and I did 4 pullups! At one time! (yesterday I could only do 3 and a partial.) I won’t weigh myself until the morning, but I am excited to see the results of that too.

Time for bed.

I got a checkup a few months ago (1/23/09), and the doctor told me something I already knew – I was out of shape! My blood pressure was high – 160/120, my bad cholesterol (265) was high, my good cholesterol (37) was low, and my triglycerides (343) were too high. I also weighed about 220 lbs which is a Body Mass Index of 29.8 – not only overweight, but right at obese!

Well, I decided to change my eating habits and start exercising. I successfully quit my daily soda pop with caffeine. I started eating healthier – less cups of ramen noodles and more baked potatoes for lunch – less junk and more fruit for breakfast, etc.

The doctor prescribed lisinopril 30 mg for my blood pressure, but I didn’t take it because I was confident that I could fix my blood pressure through diet and lifestyle change alone. After all, my wife fixed her esophogeal ulcers by changing her eating habits! If she can do that surely I can lower my blood pressure by eating better!

On 4/23/09 I went back and got my levels checked again. My blood pressure was still high and my other numbers were even worse! Weight: same, Blood pressure, same, Triglycerides: 444, Bad Cholesterol: 263, Good cholesterol: 33

So, I started taking the lisinopril. Today (4/25)I have been taking it for three days. I was very sick the first night and didn’t sleep, was sweating and nauseated and had a migraine – but that may have been a coincidence. (I do get migraines.) I have been ok since then.

I also made the vegatable soup that is the main food of the Heart Patient Diet and started eating that. (I have not started the diet completely – I ate a yummy California Skillet at Village Inn on my friday date night, and today I ate popcorn with Michael and shared some chocolate cake with Melody at Flying J.)

Today, I got back from a 3 mile walk with the dog (in the rain and mud – great fun -really! I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would) and took my blood pressure and it is 139/90. Not bad! The doctor told me the lisinopril can take 2-3 weeks to start working. Not sure what to think after only 3 days. It is probably an immediate low from the exercise.

But after that walk, (I jogged a bit on the way back – it’s downhill) I feel great!

I also did 3.5 pullups on my PerfectPullup(tm) bar (you strap on 40 extra lbs and see how many pullups you can do!)

My goal numbers are:

Weight: 180 lbs (high end of normal weight) need to lose 40 lbs
Triglycerides: 200 (150 is better) need to move 244 points down
LDL (bad) cholesterol: 130 (100 is better) need to move 133 down
HDL (good cholesterol: 40 (60 is better) need to move 7 up
Pullups: 20. hey – I could do 30 when I was in the Marine Corps! Of course, I only weighed 165 lbs and was 20 years younger . . .
Walk : able to jog the whole 3 mile route I do

So, Here is how I will get there:

1. Keep taking the licinopril and monitoring my blood pressure. When my blood pressure is consistantly low, wean off the drug.
I am also taking a couple of teaspoons of psyllium mixed in water daily, and several capsules of fish oil.

2. Go on the Heart Patient Diet (Vegetable soup) until my weight is down to 180 – plan is 7 days on, 7 days (or less) off. If all goes as claimed, I should be losing 10 lbs a week so I should hit my target weight in 4-8 weeks.

3. Walk 2-3 miles every day no matter what the weather. If can’t go for some reason, ride exercise bike for 30-45 minutes.

This should fix all my numbers within a month or two. We will see.

I guess I should set some interum goal numbers to make sure I am on track:

Optimal:

Milestone date: May 2 (1 week)
have walked or biked 30-45 minutes every day
have eaten the heart diet without cheating
weigh 210 lbs
do 5 pullups

Milestone date: May 9 (2 weeks)
no missed daily exercise
2 round of heart diet
weigh 200 lbs
do 10 pullups

Milestone date: May 16 (3 weeks)
no missed daily exercise
3rd round heart diet
weigh 190 lbs
do 15 pullups

Milestone date: May 23 (4 weeks)
no missed daily exercise
4th round heart diet
weigh 180 lbs
do 20 pullups

Pessimistic:

Milestone date May 2 (1 week)
have walked or biked 30-45 minutes a couple of times
have eaten the heart diet’s soup every day
weigh 215 lbs
do 3.5 pullups

Forget it . . . I am going to do the good one!

Do cross promotions or cross endorsements.

Find another product or service that you really like and offer to endorse it in exchange for the creator endorsing your product.

This is an effective technique because you both have a relationship with the people on your lists and they trust you – therefore the endorsement carries more weight than an ad would.

If you don’t currently have a list you can ask for endorsements simply based on the fact that the list owner will earn a commission on all sales to their list.

The key is to have them use your product first and then endorse it in their own words

Bottom Line:
If you are using PPC, or are interested in doing so, you probably should buy Google Shadow.

So, What is Google Shadow?

Google Shadow is the latest and greatest system for generating money by buying PPC (Pay-Per-Click) ads on Google Adwords, Microsoft Ads, and Yahoo Ads.

Google Shadow explains the PPC system and how to make money from it in enough detail that someone who has never used PPC before – or even an affiliate program before – can understand and make money with their system.

With the Google Shadow system you do NOT need a website – in fact it is recommended to link directly to your affiliate link.

If you are wanting to learn PPC to bring traffic to your own existing website, Google Shadow could be a good resource, but there are cheaper places and ways to learn how. Start by reading the documentation at the Google Adwords site. (Also look for more articles where you found this one, there will be articles explaining PPC for bringing traffic to your own site.)

Google Shadow comes with a membership site that contains software that helps you to quickly create many PPC ads and then upload them to the ad network of your choice. The membership site also contains a users’ forum were you can quickly get answers to the questions you ask. The day I joined there weren’t very many members yet, but still every question that was asked was quickly and politely answered even though the answers could also be found in the documentation.

Google Shadow comes with several ebooks that describe the theory and practice behind the PPC affiliate business, and exactly, step – by -step, what to do. These ebooks are comprehensive enough for complete newbies to PPC to be able to use Google Shadow and their system.

It comes with multiple videos that show exactly how to use the software.

It comes with 2 case studies that show exactly how to do it, you can copy and paste these, and they will be adding more.

This system does not limit you, you can still do bad thins like overspending, but it does tell you how to set a daily budget, and how to quickly find out what is working and what is not so the most you risk on any one campaign is $15-$30, but it does not lock you in.

Google Shadow does NOT require keyword research! It generates keywords and ads for you based on the landing page of the affiliate links.

Pros of Google Shadow:

You don’t need to have any understanding of PPC principles because Google Shadow teaches what PPC is and how to use it, and all the theory behind it, in their main ebook. You will have PPC theory understanding after reading and using Google Shadow.

It shows you how to quickly and easily generate tons of affiliate links and hoplinks

It doesn’t limit you to Clickbank and Amazon – ANY affiliate network works with Google Shadow.

Google Shadow is sold through Clickbank so you have their standard easy 8 week money back guarantee for any reason – there is no risk to buying it.

If you do unsubscribe and or ask for a refund, you don’t have to return any of the ebooks or videos; you still have the theory and how to.

Since Google Shadow does not access your PPC accounts, it only provides files for those accounts, If you unsubscribe, it does not affect your PPC campaigns.

No danger of Google shutting you down, because it never touches Google’s websites or your websites.

The software is web based and works equally well with PCs, Macs or Linux systems.

Cons of Google Shadow:

You can’t just have a general affiliate link, like your Clickbank id, it requires full affiliate links, like the complete Clickbank hoplink to each product. (It does tell you how to quickly and easily get these.)

PPC is complex and if you are not experienced with it takes a bit of time to learn and understand. Don’t expect to buy Google Shadow, and then start making $127,783 a month immediately, Google Shadow owners seem to start by making a couple of hundred a week and then move up from there.

While the ebooks and software make it easy to create many ads for the various ad networks, it does NOT place the ads for you! It creates a downloadable file that you save to your desktop and then upload to the ad network. This only takes a few minutes, and is way better than the normal method of creating your ads one at a time on the ad network, but I had expected it to ask for my ad network login and post the ads for me.

The software is web based and is not accessible if you unsubscribe (It is a monthly membership.)

Summary:
Google Shadow is a series of ebooks, videos, and a membership site that teaches PPC Affiliate Marketing. It has a tool that lets you streamline the process, quickly find ads and campaigns that work and quickly turn off the ones that don’t work, and lets you maximize your profit.

The claims made on the sales page seem to be valid, but since it is sold through ClickBank you have 8 weeks to try it out and can easily get a refund if it is not for you.

If you are currently in the PPC game, or want to be, even if you have tried and failed in the past, Google Shadow is for you.

If you want more information, in about 8 hours I am doing a live webinar on Article Marketing, where I will be live in front of whoever is attending, writing an article about Google Shadow. I will then post different versions of this article to my blog, ezinearticles.com, and other places.
This webinar will be at http://isuccess.com and starts at 6:15 AM MST (That is GMT -7).

For you in the U.S. That is 6:15 IN THE MORNING – sucks, but that is the only time I can do it.

So, even if you have NO interest in making profits from PPC, but you ARE interested in article marketing, attend the webinar for free.

I will probably screw it up, crash and burn, I mean who on earth can write an article Live, in front of a class, and post several versions to several different sites?

Quite honestly, I am not sure I can pull it off.

But I am going to try.

Come watch! At the very least, it should be at least slightly entertaining.

The Six Top Opportunities for SEO Copywriters
By Rebecca Matter

If there is one area of web writing that everyone should learn, it’s SEO copywriting (Search Engine Optimization).

If you’re not already familiar, SEO copywriting involves re-working the copy on a web page in a way that makes the page appear near the top of the search results when a person uses a search engine (like Google) to find what they’re looking for. The ideal end result is to drive more visitors to your client’s website, without paying a dime in advertising campaigns to get them there.

I recently sat down with the pioneer of SEO copywriting, Heather Lloyd-Martin, to get the low-down on how the opportunities are laid out.

What I found out is that a brand-new copywriter can jump in right away and start making solid money from day one. And as they learn and continue to build their skills, each opportunity builds on the last one and warrants a much higher fee. It very well may be the easiest and fastest way for a web writer to get started working with paying clients.

Let’s take a look at the opportunities in order, starting with the easiest …

Opportunity #1: Keyphrase Research

This first opportunity is an easy one, once you learn how it’s done. Here, a potential client doesn’t know what keyphrases would be good for their website. And they don’t know how to use the available research tools to get that information.

Since you understand what keyphrases are intended to do, you’re able to look at their website in a very unique way, and see whether or not a keyphrase is going to work within the copy. For example, you might find some keyphrases that people are using to search for information on the Internet, but they aren’t grammatically correct. Or you might find that people are searching using a different set of words than what the client is using to describe his product or service. At this point, even a very new SEO copywriter is able to easily do the research and say, “Here’s a list of really good keyphrases, all of which will work within your copy.” And that’s it!

Opportunity #2: Keyphrase Strategy

The next step you can take as an SEO copywriter, whether your client is a small business or a Fortune 500 company, is to take that keyphrase list you created and say, “Here are all the pages on your website, and here are the keyphrases that would fit every single page of your site.” At this point, by showing the client where to use the keyphrases, you’re actually helping your client guide his or her SEO strategy. You’ll go as far as saying, “On this particular page, if you were to rewrite it, the words that you would want to focus on would be X, Y, and Z.”

Opportunity #3: Keyphrase Editing

Many of your potential clients will have really good content on their websites, but that content isn’t good for search engines. The copy is very well-written, but it’s not really relevant to how people are actually searching. Your job here would be to actually edit the copy to make it more relevant, and ensure the keyphrases you identified in the last phase are used within the copy. To do this, you would insert the keyphrases within the copy where they fit to make that copy more specific. This could involve rewriting a headline or subhead, or even adding headlines and subheads. Or it could simply mean taking copy that’s not as specific, such as the phrase “our product,” and replacing it with a keyphrase “our copywriting course.” Easy, right?

Opportunity #4: SEO Copywriting

At this phase, you’re performing the services of a real SEO copywriter. You’ll begin rewriting entire web pages, and clients will come to you and say, “We don’t have an FAQ page, and we need you to write one” … and you’ll end up writing new pages from scratch. At this point your fees will increase exponentially. Because whether you’re revising existing copy or starting from scratch and creating brand-new copy, you’ll be using your direct-response copywriting skills – plus your keyphrase research skills, plus your SEO editing skills – to provide your client with a well-written, high-converting page. Whether that page’s job is to get the visitor to download a newsletter, buy a product, or go to another page, you’ll be able to get visitors to it via the search engines and take the appropriate action.

Opportunity #5: The Total SEO Package

If you can provide all four of these services (and why wouldn’t you!), you’re able to provide the total SEO copywriting package that gives your clients everything they need. But wait, there’s more …

Smart marketers know they need to add fresh content to their website on a regular basis, to keep both the search engines and their customers and prospects coming back again and again. So once you get started offering the total SEO package, you’ll soon find that many of your clients will want you to write content for them on an ongoing basis. Sometimes it may be only a couple of pages if it’s a smaller business client. Or, for larger clients, you could be doing 100 pages a month just for that one website, because they have enough products and customers to support that.

Bonus Opportunity: Training

Once you get good at any one of the opportunities listed above, you’ll become eligible for this bonus opportunity.

For many of your clients, regardless of size, SEO copywriting will be new to them. However, they might want to do the writing themselves, and simply need someone to teach them how to do it as it relates to their website. They’ll rely on you to go in and say, “Here’s your existing website, here are the improvements I recommend, and now I’ll teach you how to do it yourself so you’ll feel confident moving forward on your own.”

Once you’ve worked with a lot of websites, you can move yourself more into this consulting side of the business. Even though a company might not want to outsource and have a recurring expense indefinitely, they will be happy to make a big investment up front. They know they need to do something with their search campaigns, but they don’t know what. You’re seen as a lifesaver when you come in and tell them exactly what to do, and can demand a high fee accordingly.

Truth be told, the landscape for being an SEO copywriter is really endless. And potential clients are out there and are hungry for all of it.

So, if learning SEO copywriting isn’t on your goal list, add it now. No matter what area of copywriting you’re specializing in, understanding SEO will improve your copy when your clients want to use it online. And if you don’t know how to do it, you’ll be leaving money on the table for someone else to take from your clients.

Brian Tracy’s Five Must-Have Qualities for Success
By John Wood, AWAI Staff Writer

Sometimes we focus too much on learning all the great tips, strategies, and techniques for mastering a skill … while we ignore the “mechanism” that’s responsible for putting them into action.

Recently I was reading best-selling author and internationally known speaker Brian Tracy’s “How You Can Start, Build, Manage, Or Turn Around Any Business” program. He starts off his program talking about the five essential personal qualities you need to be successful.

Not surprisingly, these qualities are the same qualities you need to achieve success in copywriting. Because if you don’t possess them, truth be told – all the know-how in the world won’t get you to where you want to be in life.

The good news is they’re not things that only a select few are born with. They can be acquired by anyone.

Here are Brian Tracy’s five must-have personal qualities to achieve success in business and in life (with a “copywriting twist” to each, added by me):

Have an intense desire to be successful. How bad do you want to be a copywriter? Is it just something that if it happens, it happens … and you’re okay if it doesn’t? To be successful at something like copywriting, you have to want it badly. You have to be passionate. Your desire for success must be overwhelming. And just as importantly, the actions you take have to reflect your intense desire. So, what is your “copywriting career level of desire,” and what sacrifices are you willing to make to turn it into a reality?

Have clearly defined goals. No secret here. As long as we survive on this planet, somebody will be telling somebody somewhere that they should write down their life goals. What are your copywriting career goals? Have you written them down? Have you added a timeline to them? Without firm goals and a schedule to meet them, chances are you’ll just plod along and never accomplish anything significant in life. So if you don’t have a goal-setting and achieving system in place, there’s no better time than right now to put one into action.

Have an unwavering belief in yourself. Do you believe in yourself? Do you really think you can be a six-figure copywriter? Or do you think it’s too difficult? Perhaps you feel you’re not smart enough … or you just don’t have the time, etc., etc. If you don’t believe you can do something, you’re probably right. To be successful you must refuse to participate in negative thinking about yourself. Never doubt for a minute that you’ll become a successful copywriter. You must believe in yourself

Have patience. It takes time to be successful. There are no overnight successes in the world of copywriting. So, if you don’t feel you’re progressing as fast as you should, make the necessary adjustments. Success will come.
Know when to delay instant gratification. You must be prepared to sacrifice today for rewards in the future. A perfect example of this is Olympic sensation Michael Phelps. He swam everyday from the age of 12 to 17. He swam on holidays, on his birthday … he didn’t miss a day. I’m not saying you have to write a promo on Christmas morning … but to be a successful six-figure copywriter, you have to adopt the “Michael Phelps mindset.” You have to commit to do whatever it takes – and accept any sacrifices you have to make – so that tomorrow you’ll have a better, more enjoyable, and fulfilling life.

Work on developing these five personal characteristics, and you’ll be successful. Because in the end, it’s not what you do, but who you are that makes all the difference.
